The cups are absolutely magical and don't collect hair and dust like the Sennies do. They weigh more, but it isn't really perceivable through good weight distribution and adequate padding. Less clamp out of the box than the Sennies which leads me to believe they will be more comfortable long term. Their sound leakage profile is almost identical to the DT-1990s (which feel more semi-open than airy) you can still hear things around you for sure, but definitely more muffled compared to the headphones mentioned above. They are less open than the DT-990, and the Sennies. They sound perceivably more clear in the high end and more impactful in the low end compared to my previous mains the HD560s.

The 900 Pro X is at about 30% to reach the same volume. They are low impedance and it shows as with the HD560s I would be driving them around 50-60% volume on my DAC/AMP 300ohm (I can switch between 300 and 600ohm modes). I've thrown every genre at it so far, and haven't found any weak points just yet. The only way to describe them would be a more intimate DT-1990 without the ear-piercing trebles but retain the Beyerdynamic sparkle in vocals. Out of the box, these are tuned pretty impressively. They image just as well or slightly better than the Sennies.

After getting used to the HD560s I actually prefer the intimacy, so soundstage for my tastes is bang on.ĭon't need to write too much here. They lack the same airiness of say the DT 990 and sound like a more intimate version of the DT-1990s. From A/B swaps they are much closer to the Sennies than they are to previous Beyers. The soundstage here is narrower than the DT-1990s and DT990 by enough to tell that there's for sure a difference. but with a caveat that they are not miles away from the HD560s, but shine through in a few areas that edge them out by a wide enough margin to warrant a swap/sidegrade/upgrade.įor sake of comparison (and because the HD-560s and PC38x are so similar), I'll just refer to them as "The Sennies" for the rest of this update.
